Applications and History
The first people to use and discover genetic engineering were Herbert Boyer and Stanley Cohen in 1973. The very first genetically engineered medicine was human insulin created in 1982. The first genetically engineered vaccine was in 1987, it was for hepatitis B. One of the greatest genetic engineering bonuses was the creation of GMO's for food. They keep food lasting longer and keep insects and bacteria from infecting the food.
